VicPD Arrests One Person Following Playground Arson

Victoria, B.C. – Members of the Victoria Police Department’s Major Crime Unit and General Investigative Section have arrested one person for arson, following a fire that destroyed a Victoria playground.
VicPD is liaising with the BC Prosecution Service for approval of any charges; and the suspect has been released from custody with conditions. Further details are limited to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
At approximately 1:15 a.m. on March 31, 2026 – police were contacted by the Victoria Fire Department due to the fire involving a play structure at Stadacona Park in the 1400 block of Pandora Avenue. VicPD investigators have since canvassed the community for information and images that may be relevant to the investigation. Members of the department’s Forensic Identification Section have also been utilized to document the scene.
