VicPD Seeking Images After Playground Arson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 1, 2026
File: 26-12901

Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department’s Major Crime Section is looking for additional information – including photos, videos, and dashcam footage – in its investigation into a suspicious fire that destroyed a play structure in the 1400-block of Pandora Avenue in Victoria.

VicPD is specifically asking people who may have travelled through the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Pandora Avenue between midnight and 1:15 a.m. on March 31, 2026, to review any photos or video they might have captured. If you saw something suspicious, police are encouraging you to call the E-Comm non-emergency line at 250-995-7654 ext. 1, and reference file number 26-12901.

VicPD understands the importance of this park space to the Fernwood, North Jubilee, South Jubilee, and Rockland neighbourhoods – particularly as this play structure was redeveloped with inclusivity and accessibility in mind. This was a substantial loss to the community, and police are working with the City of Victoria and our partners to solve this investigation.

Police were contacted by the Victoria Fire Department on March 31, 2026, just prior to 1:15 a.m. due to the fire at Stadacona Park’s main play structure.

Investigators have since been canvassing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and documenting the scene.
