Athletic Events in Esquimalt Spur Weekend Traffic Advisory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 18, 2026

Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department is notifying the public that temporary road or lane closures will be in effect in support of two athletic events at the south-end of Esquimalt this weekend.

On Saturday, June 20, the annual CFB Esquimalt Navy Run welcomes hundreds of participants, as well as spectators along the race routes. The event begins with a kid’s fun run at 8:15 a.m. The family-oriented 5K and 10K races start at 8:45 a.m. – with the event expected to finish by 11:30 a.m.

There will be two-way traffic on the route. The runners will be asked to stay on the right side of the road – which includes portions of Head Street, Munro Street, Admirals Road, and Esquimalt Road.

The 5K and 10K events are out and back races with anticipated traffic disruptions along the route, as highlighted.

On Sunday, June 21, Human Powered Racing is hosting the Triathlon of Compassion in support of the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. Road closures will be in effect for the youth run, adult run, and cycling portions of the triathlon. Drivers should expect delays from 5:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The affected roadways for that event include Anson Street, Munro Street, Admirals Road, Lyall Street, and Lampson Street.

Road closures for the Triathlon of Compassion will be in the areas highlighted Sunday morning.

VicPD is asking drivers to remain vigilant while travelling around both events – and we thank people for their patience around delays in traffic flow. Special duty officers will be managing traffic control and public safety. Military Police will also be assisting at the CFB Esquimalt Navy Run on Saturday.
