Human Remains Found at Queens Avenue Fire Scene

Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) has confirmed human remains were found in the 700-block of Queens Avenue, following a structure fire. 

VicPD is working with the BC Coroners Service to identify the remains. While that process is underway, we cannot confirm or deny whether they belong to the person who was unaccounted for at the time of the fire.  

VicPD, along with our fire and ambulance partners, were called to the fire just before 4:00 a.m. on October 24, 2026. Once the fire was extinguished, October 25, investigators spent approximately one week conducting a detailed examination of the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, work at the scene is now complete. 

To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we don’t have any further details to share with the public. We will provide updates as they become operationally necessary or appropriate.
