BC Law Enforcement Memorial - Event Details and Traffic Advisories

Victoria, B.C. – Traffic disruptions, temporary CCTV cameras, and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) will be deployed to support public safety and maintain traffic flow during the BC Law Enforcement Memorial (BCLEM) Run and Ride to Remember on Saturday, September 26, and the BCLEM Memorial Service on Sunday, September 27. Community members are invited to attend these events to commemorate police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Saturday, September 26 - BCLEM Run and Ride to Remember
The BCLEM Run and Ride to Remember will cause temporary traffic disruptions along the event route, across the Greater Victoria Area, with the conclusion of the Run and Ride to Remember in Victoria.
The run will begin at 9:00 a.m. from the BC Ferries terminal. The route will primarily follow the Lochside Trail and Galloping Goose Trail, with some on-road sections in Sidney and Victoria.
Participants will be escorted by mountain bike officers and traffic officers from the Victoria and Saanich police departments. Runners and riders will meet in Vic West before completing the final leg of the route together to the B.C. Legislature.
The ride will begin at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre parking lot and travel through Victoria, including along Dallas Road, Foul Bay Road, Burnside Road East, and Tyee Road.
After joining the runners in Vic West, the group will travel east across the Johnson Street Bridge and continue directly to the legislature.

Road Disruptions and Event Schedule
Between 2:45-3:00 p.m. Depart from the Johnson Street Bridge for the BC Law Enforcement Memorial on the grounds of the B.C. Legislature.
3:30 p.m. Arrive at the BC Law Enforcement Memorial.
4:00 p.m. BCLEM Run and Ride to Remember concludes.
Sunday, September 27 - BC Law Enforcement Memorial Service
The BC Law Enforcement Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Approximately 450 police and peace officers are expected to participate in a parade leading to the Memorial Service.
The parade will begin in the 700 block of Government Street and proceed south along Government Street to the rear lawns of the B.C. Legislative Buildings, where the memorial ceremony will take place.
Road Closures and Event Schedule
10:30 a.m. Road closures begin in the 700 block of Government Street.
12:40 p.m. The parade begins on Government Street and proceeds south on Government Street, west on Superior Street, and north on Menzies Street to the rear of the B.C. Legislative Buildings.
1:00 p.m. The Memorial Service begins.
2:30 p.m. The Memorial Service concludes.

Temporary CCTV Cameras and RPAS Deployment
The deployment of CCTV cameras and the RPAS is an integral part of VicPD’s efforts to support community safety and is in accordance with B.C. and national privacy legislation. Temporary signs indicating CCTV camera presence will be displayed in event areas to inform the community, and the cameras will be removed once the events have concluded. The RPAS camera does not record by default. If recordings are needed to gather evidence, or capture an incident, and that data will be stored for 30 days or longer. No information will be collected during the event unless a criminal investigation or public disorder incident occurs.
Residents in the James Bay neighbourhood should expect delays entering and leaving the area during the event on Saturday and Sunday. Motorists are encouraged to arrive early, allow extra travel time, and consider walking, cycling, or taking BC Transit where possible. BC Transit exchange in the 600 block of Government Street will be temporarily moved to a secondary location.
VicPD officers and Special Duty members will be on site throughout the event to help manage traffic, support participant safety, maintain public safety, and ensure access for emergency vehicles.
