Courthouse Cleared After Bomb Threat

Date: Friday, July 2, 2021File: 21-25906Victoria, BC – Patrol officers, working with member of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) and the Integrated Canine Service (ICS), safely resolved an incident involving a bomb threat to the provincial courthouse in Victoria on Wednesday morning.Shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30th, Patrol officers were called to the provincial courthouse in the 800-block of Burdett Avenue for a report of a bomb threat. The B.C. Sheriff Service worked to evacuate the building while Patrol and Community Services Division officers created a safe zone around the perimeter. Members of GVERT, including Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) officers, attended the scene along with ICS Police Service Dogs Bodi and Maverick.The ICS teams, working with GVERT, conducted both interior and exterior searches the building. No suspicious packages were located. The building was safely cleared and employees returned to work at the courthouse.
