Dashcam Video Sought After Random Attack On Motorist

Date: Monday, March 7, 2022File: 22-8451Victoria, BC – Investigators are seeking dashcam footage and information after a random attack on a motorist in Victoria this weekend.Shortly after 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 6th, Patrol officers responded to a report of a brick thrown through the window of an occupied vehicle while it was at the intersection of Douglas and Johnson streets. Officers attended and learned that the suspect threw a Himalayan salt rock through the driver’s side window of the occupied vehicle while it was stopped on Douglas Street. The rock shattered the window and struck the driver, who was also struck by broken glass. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment from BC Emergency Health Service paramedics on scene.The suspect was last seen walking away from the scene, eastbound on Johnson Street from Douglas Street. The suspect is described as a 50-year-old Caucasian man with a medium build. He had long gray hair and wore a black winter coat with a fur-trimmed hood.Investigators are seeking dashcam footage of the incident or any other information that may aid in the investigation.
