Man Arrested After Attempted Vehicle Theft, Collision

Date: Wednesday, June 9th, 2021File: 21-22675Victoria, BC – VicPD Traffic collision investigators continue to investigate an attempted vehicle theft which led to a single-vehicle collision in Victoria this morning.At approximately 4:20 a.m. this morning, Patrol officers were called to the 900-block of Pandora Avenue for a report of a single vehicle collision. In addition, officers received information that several bystanders were attempting to restrain a person related to the collision.Officers arrived on scene and learned that a suspect attempted to steal a City of Victoria vehicle in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue. The City of Victoria staff member attempted to intervene in the theft and the vehicle then collided with a street light and a curb in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue. The suspect attempted to flee the scene, before several bystanders took action to restrain the man before police arrived.When officers arrived on scene they arrested the suspect.
