Man Arrested After Pharmacy Robbery

Date: Saturday, February 20, 2021File: 21-6910Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man after a pharmacy robbery late this morning.Shortly after 11 a.m. this morning Patrol officers were called to the 3000-block of Nanaimo Street for a report of a robbery with a firearm. A suspect had entered a pharmacy, reported that he had a firearm, and demanded cash. The suspect took money from the store and then fled the scene. Officers arrived in the area and quickly located the suspect on Douglas Street near Summit Avenue.Officers confronted the suspect and advised him that he was under arrest. The suspect refused to comply with their direction and advanced on the officers. The suspect refused to show his hands, and reached into his waistband. Officers deployed an ARWEN less-lethal round to take the suspect into custody without further incident.Officers did not recover a firearm from the suspect.The suspect was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries. The man was cleared medically and then transported to cells at VicPD where he was held in custody to await court. The man will face recommended charges of robbery.This file remains under investigation.
