Man Arrested After Threatening Staff At Downtown Business

Date: Tuesday, March 30, 2021File: 21-12120Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man yesterday after a report that he uttered threats toward staff at a local business while armed with a knife.Shortly before 7:30 p.m. yesterday, Patrol officers were called to a business in the 1200-block of Douglas Street for a report that a man was armed with a knife and threatening staff.Officers attended and located the suspect leaving the scene, near the intersection of Douglas and Yates streets. The man refused to comply with police direction and the officers deployed a less-lethal bean bag shotgun round to take the man into custody. Officers arrested the man without further incident. Officers searched the man and seized a knife.The suspect was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the arrest.
