Man, Wanted Canada-Wide, Arrested After Assault, Mischief

Date: Tuesday, March 9, 2021File: 21-9192Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant last night after he assaulted a staff member and smashed a glass door at a Victoria business.Shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, March 8th, Patrol officers were called to a business in the 3000-block of Blanshard Street for a report that a man had assaulted a staff member and smashed a glass door.Officers learned the suspect had stolen items from the store and, when confronted, he assaulted a staff member. The suspect then smashed the glass door to the business and fled. The staff member suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.Investigating officers identified the suspect. Officers then located and arrested the suspect at a temporary housing site in the 1900-block of Blanshard Street. Officers also arrested the man on an outstanding Canada-wide warrant for assault with a weapon related to an incident in Vancouver.Officers transported the man to cells at VicPD where he was held to await court.This file remains under investigation.If you have information about this incident and have not spoken with investigators, please call our Report Desk and (250) 995-7654, extension 1.
