Officer Served Violation Ticket After July Collision

Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2020File: 20-27081Victoria, BC – A VicPD officer has been served a violation ticket after an on-duty collision in July.At approximately 8 a.m. on July 8th, an officer driving a police vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Douglas and Johnson streets. There was one occupant in the other vehicle. There were no injuries. The collision was captured on dashcam.The investigation determined that the officer failed to stop at a red light at the intersection. The officer was served a violation ticket for failing to stop at a red light at an intersection under section 129 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Act. The ticket, along with the victim surcharge is $167, plus two demerit points.The officer promptly paid the ticket.
