Officers Seek Witnesses In Stabbing Of 71-Year-Old Woman

File: 20-11175Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are asking for your help as we work to locate and identify a female suspect who stabbed a 71-year-old woman.On Friday, March 13th, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Patrol officers received a report that a 71-year-old woman was stabbed once in the back while walking in the 900-block of Yates Street.The suspect, an unidentified woman who was panhandling at the time, stabbed the victim after the victim declined two requests to provide money. At first, the victim believed that she was punched in the back, but then realized that she was bleeding, and drove herself to the hospital. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.The unknown female suspect is described as a 20 to 25-year-old Indigenous woman, standing approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a slim to medium build. The suspect has short black hair, a round face, and dark eyes. The suspect is missing her top front teeth.The suspect wore a dark hoodie with the hood up, and all dark clothing. The suspect possibly wore a dark toque and had clothing covering her hands. The suspect was crying immediately prior to the assault.Officers believe that the incident was witnessed by pedestrians in the area, and they are asking for help in identifying the suspect.Officers are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the incident contact our non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654.
