RESOLVED – Cougar Tranquilized in James Bay

UPDATE

Victoria, BC – The cougar sighted in James Bay was located and tranquilized by BC Conservation Officers this morning following a chase through backyards in the 200-blocks of Michigan, Ontario and Superior streets.

VicPD School Liaison, K9 and Patrol Officers were in James Bay this morning at schools and patrolling for the cougar after it was spotted in the 200-block of Michigan Street around 3 am. BC Conservation officers were called in after our officers spotted the big cat.

The cougar was tranquilized twice after a brief chase and taken into care by the BC Conservation Officers on scene without further incident or injury.
