Six Arrested After Kidnapping, Assault With Weapon

Date: Thursday, September 10, 2020File: 20-36041Victoria, BC – Detectives with VicPD’s Special Victims Unit, working with Patrol Officers, the Major Crimes Unit, and Strike Force arrested six people after a kidnapping and assault with a weapon on Monday night.Shortly before 11 p.m. on September 7th, Patrol officers were called to a suite in a multi-unit residential building in the 1300-block of Hillside Avenue for a report of a loud domestic disturbance. On scene, officers learned that there had not been a domestic dispute, rather a man had been assaulted with a weapon and kidnapped from the suite by six suspects.The six men transported the victim outside of Victoria in a vehicle. During the transport the men continued to assault the victim with weapons. Eventually, the suspects stopped the vehicle outside of Victoria and the victim was able to escape. The victim made his way to a safe location from where he was able to contact police. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Investigators believed this to be a targeted incident and did not believe there was a wider risk to public safety.On the night of Tuesday, September 8th, Patrol officers arrested three suspects in relation to this incident while three individuals remained outstanding. On Wednesday, September 9th, Strike Force officers arrested the three outstanding suspects in this investigation.Miles Anton Brown, a 27-year-old Calgary man, is charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with a weapon.William Ricardo Miranda, a 28-year-old Calgary man, is charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with a weapon.Steven Claude Pellerin, a 24-year-old Calgary man, is charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with a weapon.Anthony Tootoosis, a 28-year-old Calgary man, is charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with a weapon.Jeff Robert Mcdonald, a 27-year-old Calgary man, is charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with a weapon.Jenner Boguen, a 26-year-old Calgary man, is charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with a weapon.
