Six Arrested After Protest Blocking Highway

File: 22-2984Victoria, BC – VicPD officers, working with members of the Greater Victoria Public Safety Unit (GVPSU), arrested six people during a protest blocking a highway in downtown Victoria today.At approximately 3:30 p.m. today VicPD officers and members of the GVPSU attended to the intersection of Douglas and Johnson streets where a group of protesters were gathered. Several protesters entered the highway and blocked the northbound lane on Douglas street. Traffic in downtown Victoria, in the area of Douglas and Johnson streets, was disrupted during the incident.Officers arrested six people for mischief. Officers transported the suspects to VicPD cells where they were later released with a court date and conditions.
