Suspect Outstanding In Burnside Gorge Stabbing

Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2020File: 20-48124Victoria, BC – The suspect in a stabbing on Sunday evening that left a victim with potentially life-threatening injuries remains outstanding as detectives with VicPD’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) continue to ask for witnesses to come forward.At 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 6th, Patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the intersection of Gorge Road East and Albany Street. Officers arrived on scene and learned that an altercation with a suspect led to injuries to three victims. One man had been bear sprayed and stabbed and was suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries. Two other victims, who were also involved in the altercation, had been bear sprayed and were suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. BC Emergency Health Services paramedics attended and transported the stabbing victim to hospital.Officers gathered information and identified a man whom they believed at the time to be the suspect. Officers located and arrested the man within a nearby multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 100-block of Gorge Road East. The man was transported to cells and after additional investigation he is now considered a person of interest, and not a suspect. He is not facing charges for this incident. The man remains in custody on an unrelated warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a robbery and breach of probation charge.Investigators continue to search for the suspect in this file. The suspect is described as a 20 to 30-year-old Caucasian man wearing a dark hooded sweater and a dark baseball hat or toque.This incident stemmed from a confrontation between the suspect and the victims.
