Suspect Sought In Money Exchange Scam

File #: 19-50463Victoria BC – Patrol officers are asking for your help as we seek to identify a suspect in a “money exchange scam” that targeted a local business.Managers at the business in the 3100-block of Hillside Avenue called to report that the suspect had been captured on video conducting a money exchange scam on Sunday, November 17th. They reported that the male suspect attended the business, and made a purchase. It was during this transaction that the scam took place.These scams involve the scammer handing an employee a large bill in payment for a small amount of money and then distracting the employee such that the scammer receives more change back than they are entitled. Losses from single incidents of these scams are often hundreds of dollars.The suspect in this incident is described Caucasian male in his early 30s, with an athletic build. He has short brown hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black baseball hat and a dark blue or black hoodie with white writing and dark pants.
