VicPD Traffic Officers Investigate Fatal Collision Involving Motorcyclist

Date: Wednesday, January 24, 2024 File: 24-2596 Victoria, BC – Douglas Street near Pembroke Street was closed for several hours yesterday evening as VicPD Traffic Analysts gathered evidence after a fatal collision. At approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, officers were called to the intersection of Douglas Street and Pembroke Street for a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck. It is believed that the motorcyclist, who was travelling northbound on Douglas Street, veered into oncoming traffic, striking the pick-up truck that was travelling southbound.  Bystanders and B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics rendered lifesaving efforts, but the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and those affected by the incident. Traffic Analysts are asking any witnesses who have not already spoken with police, or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision, to call the E-Comm Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
