Date: Tuesday, September 7, 2021Victoria, BC – VicPD Traffic officers and VicPD Speed Watch volunteers are reminding you that school zones are back in effect this week as students return to school across Greater Victoria.On Tuesday, September 7th, children are returning to school across Victoria and Esquimalt. Our VicPD Traffic officers and VicPD Speed Watch volunteers will be at different schools in the region throughout the month of September. We’ll be reminding you that school zones are back in effect. Please slow down and be aware of our students, families, and staff as they return to school grounds and surrounding areas this fall.“VicPD is looking forward to supporting students, school staff, and families in a safe return to the classroom,” said Chief Del Manak. “Our officers and VicPD Speed Watch volunteers will be out in the community conducting enforcement and education, reminding everyone that school zones are back in effect. Let’s all do our part to slow down and keep school zones safe so that students can focus on learning, growing and thriving.”School zones are in effect from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. on school days. Fines for exceeding the 30 km/h school zone speed limit range from $196 – $253, along with several penalty points.
