Witnesses, Information Sought In Sexual Assault Investigation

Date: Thursday, September 10, 2020File: 20-36047Victoria, BC – Investigators are asking for witnesses and information after a violent sexual assault in Victoria on Monday night.Shortly before 11:30 p.m on September 7th, Patrol officers were called to the 600-block of Pembroke Street for a report of a sexual assault. An unknown man assaulted the victim and then sexually assaulted the victim within a fenced-in area between the 600-block of Pembroke Street and the 600-block of Princess Avenue. Investigators believe the offence occurred shortly after 10 p.m.BC Emergency Health Services paramedics attended and transported the victim to hospital. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old Black man, standing approximately six feet tall, with a slim build. The suspect wore a surgical mask, jeans, and a t-shirt. The suspect had short hair and was reportedly “well dressed”. He spoke with an accent which was reported by the victim to sound east African.
