Two Men Charged in Sexual Assault Investigation

Victoria, B.C. – Two men are in custody facing Criminal Code charges, following a report to the Victoria Police Department of a violent sexual assault at a residential address in the 1100 block of Meares Street. 

Nanaimo RCMP contacted VicPD on June 20, 2026, requesting an investigation for an incident that occurred between June 19 and 20.   

A woman told police one of the men drove her from Nanaimo to a residence in Victoria and introduced her to a second man – who's alleged to have sexually assaulted her multiple times and refused to allow her to leave. 

“The allegations in this case are serious and deeply concerning,” says VicPD Deputy Chief Jamie McRae. “We know that hearing about this type of violence in our communities can impact people’s sense of safety and wellbeing.  Our officers are doing everything they can to investigate the matter.” 

VicPD arrested two men in connection to the case on June 21, 2026 and they remain in custody until their next court appearance on July 2. 

24-year-old Rahul CHAHAR has been charged with Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Unlawful Confinement, and Attempting to Choke to Overcome Resistance.  

22-year-old Nagender NAGENDER has been charged with Trafficking in Persons.  

This matter is now before the courts.
