VicPD Seeking Video Footage Following Bus Stop Assault

Victoria, B.C. – VicPD is asking for the public's help with an investigation into an unprovoked assault on a woman who was waiting for a bus in downtown Victoria.

On July 5, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a woman was waiting for a bus in the 600 block of Johnson Street when she was struck in the head by an unknown man. The suspect then left the area on foot, heading south.

Police believe there may have been witnesses in the area. The suspect is described as a man in his 30s or 40s with a medium build. He was wearing a baseball cap, a dark hoodie or jacket, and pants.

Investigators are seeking dashcam footage that may have captured activity in the 600 block of Johnson Street around 10:30 p.m. on July 5. They would also like to speak with anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around that time.

Any footage from vehicle-mounted dashcams, CCTV cameras, or witness observations could be valuable to the investigation.
