VicPD Traffic Advisory for Tour de Victoria Cycling Event

Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department is notifying road users of upcoming traffic disruptions on Saturday, August 15 in support of a cycling event.
Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria attracts thousands of riders from across North America. The 2026 event in Greater Victoria features 11 routes, which start and finish on Belleville Street in Victoria.
Victoria-based road closures will affect the following areas:
- Belleville Street (Pendray to Douglas)
- Menzies Street (Belleville to Quebec)
- Government Street (Superior to Humboldt/Wharf)
- Quebec Street
- Montreal Street
- Kingston Street
- St. Lawrence Street
- Erie Street
- Dallas Road
- Hollywood Crescent
- Robertson Street
- Crescent Road
Riders will be marshalling in the 500 block of Belleville Street at 6:00 a.m., prior to the 7:00 a.m. start. Government Street is anticipated to reopen once riders have cleared the area, around 9:45 a.m. The finish line will close at 3:30 p.m. The longest road closures are Belleville Street between Government Street and Menzies Street from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Menzies Street from Belleville Street to Quebec Street from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
VicPD encourages drivers to plan alternate routes where possible and to exercise caution and patience when travelling near cyclists. With the exception of specific areas in Victoria, the ride is not on a closed course.
Cyclists will also travel through the Vic West neighbourhood and Esquimalt. Intermittent road closures will take place on the Johnson Street Bridge, Harbour Road, Tyee Road, and Wharf Street until 9:30 a.m. Two-way traffic will be allowed on Craigflower Road. Motorists should expect delays at intersections as participants pass through.
Special Duty Officers will be on-site to manage traffic and public safety.
