VicPD Launches Community Survey to Help Shape Future Policing Priorities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 13, 2026

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) is inviting community members, business owners, and key partners to participate in a new public survey that will help inform the organization’s next five-year strategic plan.

This survey marks the first time VicPD has launched a broad, community-wide engagement initiative that is open to all voices. The feedback gathered will play a key role in shaping the Board’s strategic planning process, including the development of VicPD’s vision, mission, values, and organizational priorities.

“We know that effective policing is grounded in trust, transparency, and strong relationships,” said Chief Fiona Wilson. “This survey is an important opportunity for us to listen directly to the people we serve and to ensure our future direction reflects the needs, expectations, and experiences of our communities.”

The survey is anonymous and is being administered by Research Co., an independent research firm, to ensure confidentiality and the integrity of the data collected. All responses will be aggregated and used solely to inform strategic planning.

VicPD is seeking broad participation from residents, community organizations, and its own sworn and civilian members. The goal is to gather diverse perspectives that will help guide decision-making and strengthen the department’s approach to public safety and community engagement.

“We are committed to building a plan that is informed not only by data, but by the lived experiences and insights of members of our communities,” said Wilson. “We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to share their perspective.”

The survey will take approximately five to ten minutes to complete and is available online at: https://ca.decipherinc.com/survey/selfserve/629/260400?list=1

The survey will remain open until April 15, 2026.

VicPD thanks all participants for their time and for contributing to this important work.
