Disruption of VicPD’s Non‑Emergency Line During Planned Upgrade

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 9, 2026

Victoria, B.C. – VicPD is sharing an important update about a planned phone system upgrade that will take place on June 22, 2026. This work is part of our ongoing effort to support new technology, strengthen long-term reliability, and ensure we can continue serving our communities effectively.

Due to a scheduled system upgrade, the VicPD non-emergency line may experience temporary disruptions on June 22 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

To ensure residents can still reach us, a temporary non-emergency number will be active. To reach us during the outage window, please call 250-880-3384.

Regular service is expected to resume at 12:00 p.m.

It’s important to know that 9‑1‑1 service is not affected by this upgrade. In any emergency, always call 9‑1‑1.

VicPD remains committed to serving the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt, working in partnership with residents to enhance safety, build trust, and ensure help is available when needed. We understand that even brief disruptions can be inconvenient, and we appreciate the patience of our communities as we complete this necessary work.
