Date: Monday, April 17, 2023 File: 23-13520 Victoria, BC – Investigators are asking for your help as we work to identify and locate a suspect in an armed robbery at a jewelry store on Saturday. Patrol officers were called to the jewelry store just before 3:45 pm on Saturday, April 15. Staff told officers that a man had entered the store brandishing a hammer. He was confronted by staff but pushed his way behind the counters. He was able to open two of the display cases with the hammer, stealing merchandise from one of them, despite staff members’ attempts to intervene. The suspect smashed another display case and stole an expensive watch before being pushed outside by staff. The suspect fled before the responding officers arrived. The incident was captured on surveillance video which is below. Note this video contains profanity and potentially concerning content.  Staff recognized the suspect from an earlier incident on April 13, 2023, when the suspect stole a bracelet from the same store. A photo of the suspect from that incident is below.  The suspect is described as a Caucasian man between 20 and 30 years old, with a medium build and wearing a beard. He was wearing a baseball hat, a dark-coloured hoodie, tan pants, and black sneakers with white near the soles. He was carrying both a grey backpack and a black duffle bag with red straps at the time of the robbery. If you recognize this man, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
