#OpenVicPD | 2021 Community Survey | Are You Satisfied with VicPD?

 Date: Friday July 2nd, 2021Victoria, BC – We recently released the results of our 2021 VicPD Community Survey. The VicPD Community Survey is an opportunity for us to reach out to the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt to hear from them how we are doing.Conducted in 2014, 2017 and 2020 before moving to an annual process for 2021, the VicPD Community Survey allows us to identify and track trends in the responses.This week, in our final deep dive, we’re taking a closer look to see if respondents feel satisfied with VicPD.MethodologyThe VicPD Community Survey is conducted by random, statistically significant sample, as part of our efforts to get as close as possible to an unbiased perspective. Previously, we took an in-depth look at our methodology and why we trust the results.You can review the full results and methodology on our Open VicPD Community Survey Portal. Are respondents satisfied with VicPD?Overall satisfaction is a good measure of the collective sense of value for service that respondents in both Victoria and Esquimalt feel they receive from VicPD.Each year we ask VicPD Community Survey respondents to answer if they feel satisfied with VicPD. They are asked to choose from five options; “very satisfied”, “somewhat satisfied”, “not very satisfied”, “not at all satisfied” or “don’t know”. In our analysis, the “very” and “somewhat” satisfied responses were combined into “satisfied” and the “not very” and “not at all” satisfied responses were combined into “unsatisfied”.We look at satisfaction through three lenses; overall, Victoria respondents and Esquimalt respondents.As the measures are mostly stable over the 8 year trend, this year’s results are displayed year to year.A video presentation on these findings is available here. Overall  This year we saw a drop to 82% for those who feel satisfied with VicPD. We saw a 2% rise in those who feel unsatisfied, to 9%. We also saw a 2% rise in those who answered “I don’t know” to 8%.Victoria respondentsThis year we saw a drop from 87% to 82% for Victoria respondents who feel satisfied with VicPD. We saw a 2% rise in those who feel unsatisfied, to 10%. We also saw a 4% rise in those who answered “don’t know” to 9%. Esquimalt respondentsThis year we saw an increase from 85% to 86% for Esquimalt respondents who feel satisfied with VicPD. We saw a 1% rise in those who feel unsatisfied, to 8%. We also saw a 2% drop in those who answered “don’t know” to 6%. Our Key InsightsOverall most VicPD Community Survey respondents continue to feel satisfied with VicPD, but we are also seeing slight increases in those who feel unsatisfied and those who are unsure. Closing Thoughts | The VicPD Community Survey Returns In 2022Thank you for being part of our deep dive into the 2021 VicPD Community Survey.
