Stolen Sisters March | Do You Have Information About Missing Esquimalt Indigenous Woman Belinda Cameron?

Date: Friday, February 10, 2023Files: 22-4737, 2005-28114Victoria, BC – This Sunday, people will gather to remember and honour Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people who have gone missing or who have been murdered. Starting by gathering in front of Our Place at 919 Pandora Avenue at 11:30 am, the Stolen Sisters March will temporarily pause traffic as they march down Pandora Avenue to Government Street, and then to the Legislature. There, the group will gather to hear speakers, sing songs and share food.VicPD officers will be on scene to help ensure that marchers are safe.We at VicPD both recognize and remember all Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people who have gone missing or have been murdered, as well as honour their families, loved ones and communities. We do so in part by continuing our search for missing Esquimalt Indigenous woman Belinda Cameron in our effort to help her family find answers. We are asking anyone with information to come forward and share what they know.Belinda Cameron, a mother to two young girls, was confirmed to have last been seen on May 11, 2005. Belinda was last seen at Esquimalt’s Shoppers Drug Mart in the 800-block of Esquimalt Road that day. Belinda was reported missing nearly a month later, on June 4, 2005. Officers conducted an extensive investigation and a series of searches for Belinda.At the time of her disappearance, Belinda was a 42-year-old Indigenous woman who stood five feet, eight inches tall with a medium to large build, and weighed approximately 170 pounds. Belinda had long, dark brown hair that she wore parted in the middle, and dark brown eyes. She wore silver-framed glasses. Two pictures of Belinda are below. Belinda’s disappearance is considered suspicious and investigators believe that Belinda was the victim of foul play. Her disappearance continues to be investigated as a homicide. Belinda’s daughters are now adults and are seeking to understand their mother’s disappearance.
