Chief Manak swore in five new recruit constables and three new jailers this morningThese 12 new hires are part of a concerted effort to fill vacancies in all areas of the department and do not represent an increase in authorized strength. In 2022, VicPD launched a recruiting campaign to fill vacancies which resulted in a total of 44 new staff including 14 new recruit constables, 10 experienced officers, 4 Special Municipal Constables, 4 jailers, and 12 civilians. VicPD continues to seek applicants in all of these areas, as well as the volunteer Reserve Constable and other volunteer programs.
