UPDATE: On Saturday, May 10, VicPD Patrol and General Investigation Services (GIS) officers arrested a man in connection with the May 1 unprovoked stabbing in Pioneer Square. He has been released with conditions intended to protect the public and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Victoria, B.C. – Patrol officers are seeking witnesses as they continue to investigate an assault with a weapon that occurred Thursday evening in the 900-block of Quadra Street. The attack is believed to be random, and the victim and suspect were not known each other.
Just before 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, Victoria police officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Pioneer Square. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a bald man in his 40s, about five-foot-five, wearing an open brown long-sleeved sweater with no shirt underneath, and loose dark navy pants.
