VicPD Volunteers Contribute Over 4,500 Hours To Community Programs In 2022

Date: Wednesday, February 14, 2023Victoria, BC – Last week VicPD welcomed 16 new volunteers to our volunteer program. VicPD now has almost 70 volunteers that support community safety though a variety of programs including foot and bike patrols, Speed Watch and Lock Out Auto Crime. Volunteers also connect with the residents of Victoria and Esquimalt at community events and during special community projects. Last year, volunteers contributed more than 4,500 hours to enhancing public safety and adding to the vibrancy of our communities.

VicPD Welcomed 16 new Volunteers in February 2023

“Our volunteers are an essential part of our community engagement efforts to support community safety" says VicPD's Chief Del Manak. "They are out in the community seven days a week. You’ve likely seen them conducting Speed Watch in school or playground zones, encouraging drivers to slow down, or helping people learn about pedestrian safety at community events. The impact of their work is felt across the City of Victoria and Township of Esquimalt, and they are a clear example of citizens and police creating a safer community together.”Our team of volunteers is a diverse group with various backgrounds and life experiences.
