At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, Patrol officers were called to a multi-unit residence in the 1100-block of Quadra Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find one woman suffering from a stab wound. Officers and BC Emergency Health Services paramedics provided emergency medical aid, but she succumbed to her injuries.
Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit were called to the scene and continued the investigation. The incident is being treated as a homicide and VIIMCU has assumed conduct of the investigation.
One man was arrested and remains in custody. Gregory Kushniryk faces one count of 2nd Degree Murder.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to community safety.
