VicPD Investigating Vehicle Fire, Person Found Deceased

Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) is investigating a vehicle fire where a person was found deceased in the 700 block of Queens Avenue. 

On September 15, 2026, around 7:00 a.m., a VicPD officer who was on their way to work came across a burning vehicle and called 911. The Victoria Fire Department attended and extinguished the flames within minutes of arrival.  

Major Crime Unit detectives are investigating and have a robust presence around the area. Police are asking drivers to check their dashcam footage between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., specifically for those who’ve travelled along Douglas Street or Blanshard Street around the intersection of Queens Avenue. 

Anyone with information or video from the area who has not yet spoken with investigators is asked to call E-Comm's non-emergency line at 250-995-7654, ext. 1, and reference file number 26-39255. 

VicPD cannot release further details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is in its early stage.
