VicPD to Resume Responsibility for Homicide Investigations

Victoria, B.C. – VicPD has made the decision to withdraw from the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU). 

Moving forward, VicPD will resume responsibility for homicide investigations within the City of Victoria and Township of Esquimalt. 

This decision is the result of an ongoing review of several factors including crime rates, resource efficiencies, and internal development opportunities. 

VicPD is deeply grateful to VIIMCU and the RCMP for their professionalism, expertise, and collaboration. Their contributions to complex investigations and public safety in our communities have been significant and sincerely valued. We look forward to continuing to work with them throughout this transition and over the coming years.
